Moving Tips

  • One call for utilities. Lawrenceburg Utility Systems handles electric, water, and gas — one stop at 25 Public Square or call (931) 762-7161.
  • Check if you're in city limits. Trash pickup is city-only. Outside city limits, you'll need a private hauler like Home Town Haulers.
  • Renters insurance is usually required. Most landlords require at least $300,000 in liability coverage. Budget $15-25/mo.
  • Everything is on N Locust Ave. Kroger, Walmart, Lowe's, Tractor Supply — it's all on the same strip. That's your main commercial corridor.
  • It's a small town. Lawrenceburg has about 11,600 people. You'll learn the shortcuts fast and start seeing familiar faces at Kroger within a week.
  • Explore the Amish community. Ethridge, just north of town, has one of the largest Old Order Amish communities in the South. Horse-drawn buggies on the road are normal — slow down and share the road.

Bars & Late Night Lawrenceburg

It's a small town, but it knows how to have a good time. Here's where Lawrenceburg goes after dark.

The Main Event

🎳

Strikers

Steakhouse and bowling alley — and somehow both are amazing. Steaks are legit, the lanes are fun, and the whole vibe is Lawrenceburg at its best. This is where you go. If you're new in town and you haven't been to Strikers yet, fix that this weekend.

Pro tip: Go for the steak. Stay for the bowling. Or the other way around. Either way you win.

Bars & Watering Holes

Late Night Food

NameLocationHoursNotes
Waffle House N Locust Ave 24/7 Always open. The universal answer at 2am. Same scattered-smothered-covered you know and love.
McDonald's N Locust Ave Varies (some 24hr) Drive-through stays open late. Check app for exact hours.
Taco Bell N Locust Ave Until ~1am Late-night drive-through. You know the deal.
Sonic N Locust Ave Until ~11pm Not the latest option, but good for after-movie food. Shakes are always the move.

Things to Do After 9pm

  • Strikers. We said it already. Steak dinner and bowling. You can easily make a full night of it without leaving the building.
  • David Crockett State Park at night. If you're a camper, the park has 107 campsites. A campfire under the stars in a 1,094-acre park is hard to beat. (931) 762-9408 for reservations.
  • Natchez Trace Parkway after dark. No streetlights, no billboards, no rush. Just a dark, quiet, historic road and more stars than you've seen in years. Bring someone.
  • Florence, AL for a bigger night. 45 minutes south. Real restaurants, bars along the river, and live music. The closest thing to a city night without driving to Nashville.
  • Late-night Walmart. N Locust Ave. In a town of 11,600, the late-night Walmart run is basically a social event. You'll see people you know. That's the charm.

Homeowner Tips

  • Check your roof after storms. Lawrence County gets hail and high winds. File insurance claims promptly — most policies have a 1-year window.
  • Know your property taxes. Lawrence County has some of the lowest property tax rates in Middle Tennessee. Pay at the Lawrence County Trustee office.
  • Permits are required for most structural work, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC. Contact Lawrenceburg City Hall at (931) 762-4459.
  • Termites are common. Get an annual inspection. Budget $250-$400/year for a treatment bond.
  • Well water is common outside city limits. If you're on a well, get it tested annually and budget for pump maintenance. City water is through LUS.
  • Septic vs sewer. Homes in city limits are usually on city sewer. Outside city limits, expect a septic system — pump every 3-5 years.

What Makes Lawrenceburg, Lawrenceburg

  • Davy Crockett. The King of the Wild Frontier lived here. David Crockett State Park sits right in town — 1,094 acres with a museum, camping, fishing, and trails. It's the town's anchor.
  • The Amish community in Ethridge. Just north of Lawrenceburg, Ethridge is home to one of the largest Old Order Amish communities in the South. You can drive through and buy handmade furniture, baked goods, produce, and quilts directly from Amish farms. Horse-drawn buggies on the road are an everyday thing — slow down and share the road.
  • The Square. Downtown Lawrenceburg centers around the Public Square with the Lawrence County Courthouse. Local shops, restaurants, and the kind of downtown that still has character.
  • Natchez Trace Parkway. This scenic national parkway runs through the western edge of the county. Perfect for a drive, a bike ride, or a history lesson.
  • Small town, real community. Lawrenceburg has about 11,600 people. Everybody knows somebody who knows you. That's not a bug — that's the feature.
  • Cost of living. Lawrence County has some of the lowest property taxes and living costs in Middle Tennessee. Your dollar goes further here than in Columbia or Spring Hill.
  • The drive. Lawrenceburg is about an hour south of Nashville, 30 minutes south of Columbia, and 45 minutes north of Florence, Alabama. It's not next door to anything — and most people here like it that way.

Nightlife & Hidden Gems

The Lawrenceburg most people don't know about — unless they live here.

The One Place You Have to Go

🏆

Strikers

A steakhouse. And a bowling alley. And somehow both are outstanding. This is Lawrenceburg's crown jewel after dark. Great steaks, fun lanes, and the kind of place that turns a boring Tuesday into a real night out. If someone asks "what is there to do in Lawrenceburg?" — this is the answer.

Date Night in Lawrenceburg

🍴

Strikers — Date Night Edition

Steak dinner followed by bowling. It's original, it's fun, and it's way better than driving an hour to Nashville for the same thing you could've had here. Dress up or don't — nobody cares.

🌳

Campfire at David Crockett State Park

107 campsites, Lindsey Lake, and the kind of quiet you only find in a 1,094-acre park. A campfire date night under the stars is hard to top. (931) 762-9408 for reservations.

🌆

Florence, AL for a Bigger Night

45 minutes south. Real restaurants along the Tennessee River, a proper downtown, and a live music scene that punches above its weight. Worth the drive for an anniversary or a Saturday splurge.

Hidden Gems — Locals Only

  • Natchez Trace Parkway at night. No streetlights, no billboards, no speed to keep. Just a dark, winding, historic road and more stars than you've seen in years. The best free evening activity in Lawrence County.
  • David Crockett State Park after dark. You don't have to camp. Just drive in and walk the trails by Lindsey Lake at dusk. It's peaceful in a way that's hard to describe until you're standing there.
  • Ethridge Amish country — early morning. Not nightlife, but worth the 6am start. Drive the back roads at sunrise, buy fresh bread and produce from roadside stands before anyone else gets there. A completely different world 10 minutes from town.
  • Shoal Creek on a full moon. Kayakers and fishermen know this one. The creek is beautiful by day, but a full moon paddle is something else entirely. Bring a headlamp for safety.
  • The Square on a weeknight. No crowds, no agenda. Just the courthouse lit up, a few locals out walking, and the real Lawrenceburg. Small towns are best when they're being themselves.
  • Florence for the music. The Shoals (Florence, Muscle Shoals, Sheffield, Tuscumbia) produced some of the most important music in American history — Muscle Shoals Sound, FAME Studios. Live music on the river is a 45-minute drive from your front door.
